Aluminium powders and pastes

Aluminium_Pulver

Aerated concrete, a vapour-hardened building material with high porosity, is produced by using a small amount of aluminium powder or paste as reaction additive. The aluminium serves as an expansion agent.

The raw material mixture for manufacturing aerated concrete, a low viscosity mortar of ground sand, unhydrated lime, cement and water, contains homogenous distributed tiny aluminium particles which cause a gas formation in the mixture. As a result, the hydrogen gas in the form of numerous small bubbles turns the mixture into a highly porous foam.

For the different bulk density of aerated concrete products appropriate adjusted aluminium powders and pastes are used. Mainly they are characterized by a different particle size distribution.
